"The Smoke Trail" is a novel intended for teenagers, but also for adults.
It tells the story of Shaïné, a young teenager who survived the concentration camps, returning to France at the end of the Second World War.
She will give birth to a little girl who will be named Zeïdé, like her beloved grandfather whose bright memory helps her not to sink.
Taken in by a children's home and separated from her baby, she must fight against despair, madness, jealousy, and grief. Over the months, she will make friends, discover love, learn to care for her daughter, and find her father, a survivor who needs her. Little by little, without forgetting anything, she will regain her confidence and rediscover the joy of living.
With simple words and poignant poetry, the author shares with us the tragic and profoundly human story of these wounded children.
