Paul Daveine, a senior in high school specializing in literature, chooses to spend this long May weekend alone without his parents. With the baccalaureate exams approaching, he should be revising, but personal reflections, uncomfortable childhood memories, and doubts assail him.
Suddenly, strange anonymous photo messages appear on the family computer screen, and during these four days of seclusion, Paul responds to them passionately. From romantic fantasies to fragile hopes, from lyrical outbursts to dramatic disappointment, these mysterious exchanges with this unknown correspondent reveal him to himself and lead him to a decisive turning point. From now on, he will allow himself to live, to write, to become who he is; and this will be against his parents, against the whole world and its absurd prejudices, if necessary.
Breaking through the screen is a foundational act with no turning back, the beginning of a liberation.
