Enzo's grandmother had a loud voice and was not easy to get along with.
But she would take him on surprise trips, invent games and stories for him, and make the best hot chocolate in the world.
So now that she's gone, Enzo has every right to mourn his Grandma Magic!
In this tender and poignant novel, Elisabeth Brami gives voice to Enzo, a boy who has just lost his grandmother. She was an eccentric woman, not always easy to get along with, and sometimes even a little frightening. But, as time went on, and especially since his parents' divorce, their mutual affection and close bond only grew stronger. She gave him courage and a touch of whimsy, and had given him the most wonderful surprise: an impromptu trip to the seaside, a delightful taste of freedom.
She had also taught him that a boy has the right to cry. That's what he would allow himself to do, without fear of mockery, in memory of the one he called Granny Magic.
Through this short, very moving but absolutely not tearful novel, Elisabeth Brami reminds us that children also have the right to mourn a loved one who has passed away.
